Website Show for: 8/4/96

Ed's Note: This original script, like the shows, were pretty raw, and because the Internet always changes, some pages aren't accessible anymore, or have changed url's. For the sake of having an accurate record of the internet AND Cleveland's Alt. scene at this point in history, I'm not changing any of the script...er, ah, and I'm a little bz for all that work anyway. However I'll add the new website or any changes as you read along. "End-joy" :-)

Turn off your Tv's, Turn on your Computers, and turn up your Radios! It's time for
WEBSITE, our weekly surf through the Internet checking out cool musical websites.

Tonight's theme, Interactivity; we'll talk about ways people can interact with their favorite
bands and  give some big tips on getting software that'll help you enjoy the fast growing
multi-media side of the Web.

Starting off tonight's show with another one of those Georgia bands....

Rap:
Pat/techno-funk/Address
We're back with website, our weekly program, where we help you navigate the 'net and
find cool musical websites through The End Web with the help of The Webmaster...

Better Than Ezra (Ed's Note: The Elektra Links for Nada Surf and BTE were slow, so I chose this alt. site for BTE as a backup in case it stays down.)
How did their name start....band won't say but there are some strange suggestions on their
website! Add Yours! Under Ezra Talk. Good, interactive site, awarded 3 stars by the
McKinley Group, runs the Magellan search engine

Verve Pipe
Uses frames a Lot
18 sound bites! 13 from last album & some rare concert / Compilations
Media page doesn't Link! Can find out about other Verve radio Stations in other cities though.

For travellers, check out our listener links under Hot Links! Alternative Radio guide has
Alt. Stations in all 50 states???

Also, regarding Interactivity,
We've added 3 resources to the Hot Links page this week. Under Multimedia
Browser watch / iWorld's Resource page for B's & plug-In's
Shareware Music Machine / AU...Downloadable Music Real Audio, Goldwave, many
others for ANY platform
Shockwave / A lot of good resources and links to Shocked sites. For normal surfers and
Developers as well. Building a homepage? Do it here

Soundgarden
Very Interactive fan page
Celebrating Chris Cornell's birthday with an unusual Survey
AND a Java-Wordsearch game. Find a word like soundgarden in a big jumble of letters
Might be backwards or diagonal; drag your mouse across the word, holding the left
button, let it go, boom, the word dissappears from the wordlist. Fun!

They've also got a Virtual Reality Modeling Language section set up at the site with
Soundgarden info. Need a high level of Netscape and the Live 3D plug In. They have links
to those on their site.

Check out the Soundgarden miscellany page for some good interactive examples
Let's get interactive with some music!

Third Set (2 songs)
Sound garden
Rage Against the machine

Rap:
Pat/Space music
Helping you chart the best sites in Cyberspace, this is Website, our Wednesday night tour
of the coolest musical websites, with....The webmaster

We're talking about Interactivity tonight

In Concert in Akron on August 10th.
Rage has a great page any websurfer can access. It has a list of books they endorse that
talk about freedom, repression, politics, and are hotlinked to the actual book online or the
Author's website.(Ed's Note: The hyperlinks are gone but the list is still there!)

For Mac users they also have a really cool game!

Commercial Break
Your Listening to WEBSITE, our weekly surf through the best musical websites on the
'net. Back with the Webmaster in a few minutes, but first...

Fourth set: (2 songs)
Beastie
7 Mary 3

Rap:
Pat/Ambiant-Electonic

7 Mary 3
One  of the artists for helping the Surfrider Foundation
protect our planet's oceans and coastlines. MOM- Music for our Mother Ocean
Find out info on that through our Public Service Page. Sound bites for each of the artists.

Beastie Boys
Modern Quadrophonic Magazine - Spring of '95 - still funny
Tour Dailies; diary entries from the band; Stopped into some cool bookstores & record
shops in Cleveland, Downtown, between e 9th & the Square.
Milarepa sound and pictures page has been updated. Concert was in June, the Tibetan
Freedom Concert Online, very cool, BB's Foo Fighters, Sonic Youth, De la Soul & others
have sound bites & pictures from the show.

Last June they had a lot of live feeds over the 'net. Great example of interaction for a
cause.

Use our new Multimedia section on the hot links page to learn about this new field;
download Shockwave, Real Audio, some of the others, and be prepared for instant
concerts online. They aren't announced too far in advance because the servers that host
them get overloaded.

End Rap:
Pat/Surf Music
Webmaster, any last words?
Show's theme was loosely based around modern technology
Another good example...Instant Ballpark, submitted by Basheer Lofti-fard of Lakewood.
As the game is going on you see pitches delivered, which field & how far foul balls go,
hits, runners taking bases, like a video game, but it's LIVE!

Listener Links...email w/ snailmail.
