WebSite Show for: 08/03/97

Ed's Note: This original script, like the shows, were pretty raw, and because the Internet always changes, some pages aren't accessible anymore, or have changed url's. For the sake of having an accurate record of the internet AND Cleveland's Alt. scene at this point in history, I'm not changing any of the script...er, ah, and I'm a little bz for all that work anyway. However I'll add the new website or any changes as you read along. "End-joy" :-)

It's Sunday night, and like every Sunday it's time for our weekly program where we help
you navigate the internet, saving you all sorts of money in online  charges by telling you
about the best in Musical websites, with The End Web's own Webmaster...

There's a ton of great shows coming up this month, with some new and old alternative
bands. What are their shows going to be like? Chances are someone has seen them
SOMEWHERE in the world, and the reviews up on a website, maybe forwarded to a
newsgroup, or mailing list...we'll take a look at the way you can learn about several bands
tours' including new bands like Sugar Ray, old bands like INXS, and all sorts of major
bands inbetween like Live and 311, so stay tuned and get online with us....
Also...news about the webmaster's latest love...she's smart, supple, and knows how to
navigate the web, including getting me around those nasty 404 file not found errors!!!
...news on alexa..... alexa  internet coming up next break
But first, the SC shows were over the last few nights,

If you go to the end web you'll find the band's page, and there's a link there to what's
called the official aol page, AKA as the SCUG, SC Underground (motto) and it is FAN-
tastic.(Ed's Note: This link has gone 404, but the soulcoughing site  is pretty killer)
Done by fans, they just announced this week the SC Tape Trading Network, so if
you copped a bootleg over the last few nites shows....or want one from other shows,
check htis sight out. Some bands play a lot dif. Live than on the CD...this is one way to
hear the diff. Condoned by the band...I think.
Lots of things on this aol page, news and links to the Spawn Soundtrack,
they also have a very cool songs page, it's in a three column table format, the first column,
name of the son, second column from one to 5 little picture icons indivating if the
following are included in the website.....
third column is album title or live from the tapers...7 pages worth of songs, the ultimate
SC collection...online! Not in a fancy expensive  5 CD jewel case collection, free over the
Internet...beauty, eh?

You can find out how to get to this killer page by visiting the End web's Concert page,
brought to you by that Killer ISP, Rock Capitol Interactive! Featuring Do-It-Yourself
Virtual Servers for webmasters.

Live has a great link there, and a great webpage. Good on tour section
"LIVE" from the road....

We're back with website, our weekly program, where we help you navigate the 'net and
find cool musical websites through The End Web with the help of The Webmaster...

We're focusing on the Concert page tonight, brought to you by Rock capitol Interactive,

311's coming to town soon, and are on tour now but the webmaster...he's spent the last 2
months in Paris, not paris texas either...he's in France, I'm sure studying up on some kind
of net, Inter, Intra, fish? But his page is still up...and it has some inside gossip on it from
311's manager and a whole slew of reviews archived about past performances, so catch up
on those before cruising to that show, coming up 8/12 at CSU.

Before that, David Bryne, coming to town 8/16 at the Agora...another great page
Very colorful, very "arty", has a lot of it devoted to talking heads stuff, like their ongoing survey...
Another cool site out of the Netherlands; they have a bullettin board that's very current, ....apparently letterman had him on this week, he did an abbrev. Miss America....

I did promise to spill the beans about my latest love this week, no its not a woman but she
is named Alexa, and unfortunately she's not quite out of beta testing, but you could help
out in that. Alexa will be very cool...

Radiohead's website is completely wacked. It is hard as HELL to make any snese out of it
whatsoever. They blame the band leader for messing things up and then leaving, hey...rock
singers never do that do they? trash places then leave? nahhh....
It IS a crazy site, goes against all the conventions of website design. has a navigation
button on one screen hard....easy. No clues for the uninitiated as to where easy goes,
unless you look down at the bottom of the status bar. That'll always show you where you
are about to link to... a lot of people ignore it but always look at it, that and the title bar in
the top. Radiohead has put some funny things there, titles like the Shopocalypse Channel
and things like that. Newbies on the Internet never look at those things, Status bar on the
bottom, title bar on top, location bar in the middle. Locations shows the computer address
like www.radiohead.com, title shows in english (usually) the name of the page or a joke,
and status at the bottom shows where you'll link to. Might not BE in radiohead, might be
to a site for one of their causes...they're working a lot with environmental and community
groups, a very activist bunch....tour page is out of date, and hopefully someone will point
that out to them when they reach Blossom on 8/16.

Third Set (2 songs)
Radiohead
Rage Against the Machine

Rap:
Pete/Space music
Helping you chart the best sites in Cyberspace, this is Website, our Sunday night tour of
the coolest musical websites, with....The webmaster

Rage has tons of pages on the Net, we had a student page that was excellent but had to be
taken down from his u-mich site. You can still download the zipped files though and check
it out, he had a table of really interesting, socially concious, revolutionary books and
authors linked on one of his pages....can also link to several others from his page, inc.
www.ratm.com, that has sound bites and lyrics to most of the Rage catalog...get ready to
see them in town at blossom l8r this month.

If you're traveling to anywhere this summer, Washington, Chicago, nueva york, and you
want to find out really quick if anything good is happening there, concert wise, go to the
end web, www.1079.com, into our hot links section, and use Pollstar, the best concert
tracker on the web. You can look up concerts by city or artist, theer's a lot of good
gosssip features, it's an excellent resource for traveling!

you can help them out,  and get yourself some INXS schtuff after....

Webmaster, any last words?

This show's not how to be stuck behind a tube, it's how to use the net as a tool to enhance
your life, all aspects of it; and because it delivers sound, video, cool graphics and text, it's
especially good for learning about your favorite bands and other performing arts. But don't
let it stop there, go out and support people live! Enjoy the real experience, especially in
the Summer!
