Website script outline for 8/2/95

Ed's Note: This original script, like the shows, were pretty raw, and because the Internet always changes, some pages aren't accessible anymore, or have changed url's. For the sake of having an accurate record of the internet AND Cleveland's Alt. scene at this point in history, I'm not changing any of the script...er, ah, and I'm a little bz for all that work anyway. However I'll add the new website or any changes as you read along. "End-joy" :-)

Bull:
Welcome to Website, WENZ's internet program. We'll help you roam through the world

your computer and turn up your radio, as we rock into cyberspace!

Ramones / I Don't Want to grow Up
rap: Intro - Hey ho! Let's Go! for E-mail / mail campaign coordinated from England

Hey ho, let's go!
Ramones cyber-fans, surf to Rockaway Beach, that's the name of  this World Wide
Website dedicated to The Ramones.

One of the things going on at The Ramones Website is, well, there's a certain magazine
out, it'll remain nameless here

Bull:
(Musician Magazine)

and they're running an issue now that looks at the 20th anniversary of Punk, and guess
what???

Bull:
They didn't mention The Ramones!

The Bands publicist asked the editor of the bands UK fan Club to write to the editor of the
magazine to protest, and she in turn has asked all the Ramones fans on the Internet to do
the same. So here's what you can do to right this injustice.

Check into the End Web,  find The Ramones Link
(Ed's note: This is now just a link to Yahoo's listing of Ramones web sites)
on our Playlist, click on the info Icon
once you surf there, go to the fan club section and you'll get the address where you can
send your protest as well as the girls' e-mail address who is coordinating this campaign
from the UK, her handle is Booner. At one time this was easier to get to, under an icon
that said URGENT! But Maybe the University of Albany got intimidated  by that certain
magazine, which will remain nameless....

Unfortunately they don't have the e-mail address of the editor for that certain magazine w,
so you can't flame him,  you'll have to use snail mail instead.

Bull:
Unless...

someone can hack into that magazine and find that address. Now what kind of person
would do such a thing?  Maybe Someone who says, I Don't want to grow up. Here on The
End.

Rap: Concrete Blonde on the web

Bull:
Johnette Napolitano's coming to town soon, you can get connected to her old bands
Website, Concrete Blonde, and find out about what her new band is about.

Their website is topnotch, a really excellent database with everything you'd like to know
about them.

Some songs are inspired by real life, some by authors like Anne Rice, the famous
"Interview with a Vampire" author. She'll be online tomorrow night on CompuServe,
answering questions and chatting.

Reading the lyrics to this next song on the End web, woh! I know she must've had an
influence in there somewhere! I  hope someone asks her about it. It's a dark, sensual,
steamy song written about New Orleans

Bull:
but with an atmosphere like we have in Cleveland tonight,  Check it out...

Concrete Blonde - Bloodletting
White Zombie / More Human than Human
Letters to Cleo/Awake

The Peep Show is the name of the Website for White Zombie. On The End Web you can
link to their site from ours....and see some of the most hallucinatory artwork! Especially
on their Planet Zombie page. I think the cartoonist for Calvin & Hobbes or someone just
like him contributed to that. He got to stretch a bit past the Sunday Funnies for bizarre
artwork. (Ed's note: The Peep Show doesn't exist anymore, but the link above is great!)

Bull:
Don't go there if you're just about to go to sleep, you might have some weird dreams.

The Letter's to Cleo website is based out of the University of Michigan, (Ed's note: Not anymore!) and it has 6 or 7 different sound bites, all with various formats so pretty much any machine will be able to
play these sound files.

It's even got one sound bite of Kay explaining the chorus for "Here and Now",  and if that
song goes by too quick for you, of course, this website has the lyrics for that song, also a
video clip of that song, a ton of pictures, you can join the mailing list, check out their tour
information and see what kind of feedback they've gotten from this website.

This website has a great survey. Now a lot of websites have survey's that have pre-
programmed answers that you just click on. This website is Great, good, ok, etc.

This programmer has pre-programmed some pretty funny answers to his questions...

When he asks what did you like least about this page, he's got a variety of honest potential
responses, that pretty much describe all the characteristics of any website, but with real
attitude.  "the pictures blow, the audio video is horrible, you could do without the articles,
are you kidding, get rid of the tour dates, the discography is useless, my life would be
complete if the lyrics weren't there, please get rid of the mailing list information, the
Netscape enhancements ruin the entire page, everything sucks, and my favorite, something
smells, it's..."and then you can add your own comments, or finally, "I wouldn't change a
thing".

This survey is good for a laugh, and it's cool because this webmaster's looking for
feedback in a good non-IBM'sh way.

Foo Fighters / This is a call
The Foo Fighters website is pretty new, like the band itself, set up by a pair of Miami
university of Ohio students who have also set up a pretty cool  Smashing Pumpkins
website.

Foo Fighters was the nickname W.W.II Allied pilots gave UFO's that chased them in the
last stages of the war, and the legend and stories of sightings are interwoven between the
bands extensive bio, done mostly in 1st person (Beavis drop What???)That's "in their own
words" dude!

One very cool thing unique about this website is that regarding touring, they have The Foo
Fighters complete tour listing, by date and arena and so forth like a lot of others do, but
then they have added links to reviews of past concerts from people who know about the
page and've sent them in. And guess what?

Bull:
They're missing Cleveland's May 4th show!

If you saw the show on Kent State Day check out the page on the End Web and send 'em
your review! Know what you'll get...that's right, nothing! They're only students!

Bull:
But mention the End Web in your piece and we'll send you something.

Your E-Mail address WILL be forever linked to the Foo Fighters Cleveland show, and no
doubt having it up there you'll make some new 'net friends. You'll get called.

This is "This is a Call" by...the Foo Fighters.

Commercial Break

Soul Asylum/Misery
The Soul Asylum(Ed's Note: This is a sony link, pretty good too; the other above is for Yahoo's page on them)
website was created by Sony and they've got a tour schedule up there
for the first leg of their fall tour, showing Cleveland twice, once on August 22nd at
Nautica then again on September 2nd for the Concert for the Hall of Fame.

I'm starting to get a lot of E-mail from relocated Clevelanders thanking us for this concert
page. we have the buzz on 15 concerts linked to 22 artists websites coming to town. If
your going to school in the fall, stay in touch with what's going on through the end Web.

Or if you're not sure about bands on a multiple Bill, check out the Concert page, you'll
learn a little more about any band we have linked. Know their latest hits, read about shows
in other cities, that's the sort of things you can do on The End Web. Never go to a show
un-informed again, hey, why spend a lot of money and be in misery,

OK Webmaster Louis Rukeyser, enough with the puns,  here's Misery, here on The End....

Soul Asylum - Misery
Hum - Stars
Soundgarden/Black Hole Sun

For bands that sound like hum... not a hum, but, The Hum, or even a lot more harder than
Hum, you can check out the Concrete Marketing website through The End Web's Hot
Links. Their website is called "The Hard Rock Zone" and has a twilight Zone Motif when
you first go into it. They have mini-homepages for about 25 bands, each with a band
photo, a CD  photo, sound bite, Bio info and tour schedule.

According to the Hum's website tour schedule, the closest they'll be to Cleveland will be in
Louisville, Kentucky, at The Cherokee Ballroom on August 3rd. Through the Heavy
Metal Webmasters at the Hard Rock Zone you can send e-mail to the band!  So, check it
out.

Soundgarden, has another great page. I like it because it has a game inside. Special
anagram software, where you can plug in a phrase, see what anagrams are created.
They had 582 anagrams for Soundgarden, like Sudden Groan, Nude Dragons, God darn
dues, Undo dangers, Undo nerd gas....wonder what you'd get for the word commercials?

Commercials

These next local guys are smart. Being on The End Web,  Oroboros with a web address
line on a postcard can actually let all their fans know they can be found online, and they
can see pages and pages of info about them, their current schedule, plus hear a sound bite.

It's good for out of state booking agents to know they can always be in touch
.20 cents versus a 1.25 envelope! Not to mention the costs of tape dupes. Sending a
decent press kit to a 100 local collage or bar booking agents would be at least 200 bucks.
200 would get you online for 2 months, and you could use the change to send out 100
postcards. plus, you could add that web address on any flyer, poster, whatever...

They're at Shooters Friday, Cedars in Youngstown Saturday, a Whiskey Island party at
Edgewater,  Sunday,
Here's the full tune that's on their soundbite,
and regarding the 'net, 3 of the pages we talked about tonite changed in the last week,
I guess it's like the man sings, "when all is said, change is the constant",

Bull:
Water unto the Stone,  by Oroboros, here on the End

Had a great time tonight. Next week lets do more about surveys and games,  websites of
NIN, U2, Violent Femmes, Primus, even the Simpsons who we have on our Hot Link
page! We could do a lot of things with this show. What do you want out of it? Got any
comments?  Byte Me! theend@americast.com. or Call tomorrow at 861-0100 and ask for
the Webmaster.
