| Website Show for: 11/29/95
- Wednesday 11:00p.m. with Bull
Ed's Note: This original script, like the shows, were pretty raw, and because the Internet always changes, some pages aren't accessible anymore, or have changed url's. For the sake of having an accurate record of the internet AND Cleveland's Alt. scene at this point in history, I'm not changing any of the script...er, ah, and I'm a little bz for all that work anyway. However I'll add new websites or any changes as you read along. "End-joy" :-) WEBsite Format Show for: 11/29 Bull/Surf Music
Tonight's theme: Interactive Websites! We'll be chatting about some
contests, games, and surveys that concern some of your favorite bands,
like Primus, U2, Nine Inch Nails The Violent Femmes, and this band,

Bull/McHales Navy theme It's Wednesday night, and like every Wednsday it's time for our weekly program where we help you navigate the internet, saving you all sorts of money in online charges by telling you about the best in Musical websites, with The End Web's own Webmaster... Thanks Bull, tonight's show is about interactivity. Green day's website
is hooked up to a few polls and contests, (They
still are!) you can link to them through our end web playlist. Check
out the X avenue poll, where you can vote for your favorite bands. this
is a poll where you can see how the artist is doing and link to they're
website. Alanis and Smashing Pumpkins were actually in the lead, but had
no website listed, so I e-mailed them the address of Jay Onifer's Alanis
site at Case, and the Smashing Pumpkins site from Miami of Ohio we have
linked, and they put them up within a day so that worked well. X Avenue
has a ton of games generation x'ers will get a kick out of, so check
them out and add them to your bookmarks. (This site
is way gone)

| Fourth set:
Letters To Cleo Collective Soul |
|
| Rap:
The Letter's to Cleo website is based out of the University of Michigan, (They went up and graduated, butt the site above is pretty cool) and it has 6 or 7 different sound bites, all with various formats so pretty much any machine will be able to play these sound files. It's even got one sound bite of Kay explaining the chorus for "Here and Now", and if that song goes by too quick for you, of course, this website has the lyrics for that song, also a video clip of that song, a ton of pictures, you can join the mailing list, check out their tour information and see what kind of feedback they've gotten from this website. This website has a great survey. Now a lot of websites have survey's
that have pre-programmed answers that you just click on. This website is
Great, good, ok, etc.
This programmer has pre-programmed some pretty funny answers to his questions... When he asks what did you like least about this page, he's got a variety of honest potential responses, that pretty much describe all the characteristics of any website, but with real attitude. "the pictures blow, the audio video is horrible, you could do without the articles, are you kidding, get rid of the tour dates, the discography is useless, my life would be complete if the lyrics weren't there, please get rid of the mailing list information, the Netscape enhancements ruin the entire page, everything sucks, and my favorite, something smells, it's..."and then you can add your own comments, or finally, "I wouldn't change a thing". This survey is good for a laugh, and it's cool because this webmaster's
looking for

End Rap:
Bull/Surf Music Thanks to our friends at Cybergate for sponsoring tonights show, helping us help you learn a little bit more about the Internet. To get on the 'net, fast and inexpensively, call them at 247-7660. Local Music: Devo! This site should be out of northern Ohio, it's the home of DEVO, and it also achieved a top 5% of the web award, mostly due to it's innovative use of Edible Starchy Tubers. ( The site above is from Norway) New kind of Fiber optic cables? No...Potatoes! Spuds! The Mr. Potato head game is hilarious. (This isn't the original, but still pretty fun) Of course, the person doing this is involved in genetics, Devolution, that type of thing. Here, you can customize a family of 5 different Potato Heads, with different eyes, ears, lips, noses, and then mate them and see how they'd morph into different types of heads. Do this all the while you're listening to DEvo, and see if you can ever think about pro-creation the same way again... Next week, International websites, webs from all over the world, and music from the B-52's, Silverchair, Sonic Youth, the Bare Naked Ladies and of course, some local music as well! Good surfing, Aloha! |
